Ohio University now has an institutional membership with the Ohio Academy of Science, which allows faculty and students to join at no cost.
Founded in 1891, the Ohio Academy of Science is a membership-based, volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organization. The academy is the leading organization in Ohio to foster curiosity, discovery and innovation and to unite all who value education, science, engineering and technology. Members are as diverse as the science taking place in Ohio, and programs support science from pre-college and college students through scientific professionals.
Faculty and students who sign up can access the academy’s member site, where they can interact with other academy members, register for academy events, and mentor pre-college students on their science research projects.
Member benefits also include no page charges for manuscripts submitted to The Ohio Journal of Science and the ability to present an abstract at the OAS Annual Meeting (April 11, 2015, Capital University). Michele Morrone, Professor and Coordinator of Environmental Health Science, initiated Ohio University’s institutional membership because she supports the academy’s mission to promote research and science in the state, she said.
“OAS provides opportunities for researchers to disseminate their work whether they are students participating in State Science Day or well-established faculty publishing in the journal,” she noted.
How to join The Ohio Academy of Science:
- Go to either the College Student Application (Paid by Institution) or Professional Application (Paid by Institution) form
- Complete the form and click submit
- At checkout use the coupon code OHIOU*
Please note:
- The coupon code (OHIOU) will cover the cost of a college ($25) or professional membership ($75), but a print subscription to The Ohio Journal of Science would cost $15.
- You must use your university email when completing your membership registration.
