Faculty members across many Ohio University colleges are working to create a Collaborative on Aging, under the direction of Dr. Brooke Hallowell in Communication Science and Disorders.
They hope to bring together researchers, educators, service providers, and students who have aging-related interests. The group intends to create an interdisciplinary university-wide network that would be focused on improving the lives of older adults and optimizing quality of life across the lifespan.
The group wants to include faculty who see themselves as being able to contribute to aging-related research, education, and service, both domestically and globally, and to encourage the participation of faculty who are developing and supporting knowledge, skills, awareness, and tools necessary to promote optimal aging through the lifespan at the individual or societal level.
Currently, the College of Arts & Sciences is represented by Dr. Julie Suhr, Professor of Psychology, and she is seeking any other faculty with interests in aging issues who might willing to join the collaborative as it is in its developmental stages.
For more information, contact her at suhr@ohio.edu so that those interests can be included and so you can influence the development of the Collaborative while it is still in formation (i.e., while it is still planning its mission and objectives).
