OPIE Advising: ‘Navigating the University Landscape: A Roadmap,’ Oct. 15

Ohio University students and faculty are welcome to join OPIE events.

New Advising Initiative: Workshop on “Navigating the University Landscape: A Roadmap” is hosted for the first time by the joint efforts of OPIE and College of Arts & Sciences on Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 9-11 a.m. in Ellis Hall 111. The workshop is offered to undergraduate students at the advanced and pre-academic levels of OPIE to make their transition from OPIE to their major fields of study at Ohio University easier and more successful. In this workshop, students are given some important communication techniques to use in academic context, strategies to plan their academic study effectively, and opportunity to practice “reading” their DARS. Participating in this workshop also preparea the students for the upcoming OPIE Academic Orientation.

Kennedy Art Museum Tour, Wednesday, Oct. 15, 10 to 11 a.m. Join the Foundations and Elementary students for a tour of Ohio University’s Kennedy Art Museum on the beautiful Ridges. Explore the works of art by local artists and artists from Ohio University.

Baking Club Meeting, Wednesday, Oct. 15, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. First Presbyterian Church at the corner of Court & Washington streets. Come learn some delicious recipes from around the world.

Wednesday Discussion, Oct. 15, 2 to 2:55 p.m., Ellis 111. OPIE hosts the talk on Academic Study Skills by Tonga Cox, Academic Skills Instructor & Academic Adviser from the Academic Advancement Center. Join the discussion to refresh your knowledge of the skills necessary for academic success.

Creative Arts Club, Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2 to 3 p.m., Gordy 013. Are you a creator? Would you like to learn hot to create and what international students consider art? Join this meeting to get some inspiration!

International Conversation Hour, Wednesday, Oct. 15, 5 to 6 p.m., Bobcat Student Lounge, Baker Center, first floor. Join this fun multicultural exchange of ideas and make friends with students from around the world!
