The Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics (INPP) presents Mohammadreza Hadizadeh, of Ohio University, presenting “The Relativistic Three-Body State in a 3D Formulation” on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 4 p.m. in the Roger W. Finlay Conference Room located in the Edwards Accelerator Laboratory.

Abstract: The relativistic three-body problem has a long tradition in few-nucleon physics.  Calculations of the triton binding energy based on the solution of the relativistic Faddeev equation in general lead to a weaker binding than the corresponding non-relativistic calculation. In this talk we present the numerical results for the three-body binding energy as well as the wave function and its momentum distribution by solving the relativistic Faddeev equation directly in terms of momentum vectors without employing a partial-wave decomposition. The effect of the different relativistic ingredients will be discussed in detail.
