The Innovation Center invites students, faculty and staff and community members to monthly open houses for Ohio University’s 3D printer.
The open houses, held from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month, offer an opportunity for individuals to learn about this resource and how it can be used for research, scholarship, creative work and entrepreneurial activities.
The fall open house dates are Oct. 7, Nov. 4 and Dec. 2. The Innovation Center is located at 340 W. State St., Athens.
The printer, an Objet350 Connex from Stratasys, has eight print heads to create objects from a wide variety of materials. It can be used to manufacture pieces for student art and engineering design projects or small products that can be sold by regional businesses. It’s the largest and most sophisticated 3D printer acquired by Ohio University to date.
