Faculty can find out how to integrate service learning into their course curriculum—and increase students’ motivation, comprehension, and participation—at an Introduction to Service Learning for Faculty and Instructors, Nov. 12 and 13.
Service learning is gaining popularity as a transformational learning opportunity on campuses throughout the United States and across the world. Service learning combines academic learning and community engagement in ways that enhance student learning and development while contributing to the common good. This workshop provides an introduction to service learning pedagogy and how it can benefit students, faculty and community partners. It also begins to lay
the foundation for ways in which faculty can integrate effective service learning into their courses through a review of best practices.
Two identical sessions will be held at different times on different days. Please choose one:
- Wednesday, Nov. 12, 9-11 a.m. Introduction to Service Learning for Faculty and Instructors, Baker Center Room 230
- Thursday, Nov. 13, 1-3 p.m. Introduction to Service Learning for Faculty and Instructors, Baker Center Room 230
Faculty and instructors who attend this session will receive a $100 stipend, a copy of Campus Compact’s Introduction to Service-Learning Toolkit, 2nd Ed. AND be eligible for:
- Mini-grant dollars to implement service learning courses
- Participation in an eight-week, in-depth workshop on building a service-learning course at OHIO University
