Oxford University Professor Bart van Es gives a lecture on “1594: Shakespeare’s Most Important Year” on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 5 p.m. in the Baker Center Theater.
In this lecture, van Es explores the consequences of Shakespeare’s decision to become a sharer in the Chamberlain’s acting company. This decision, he argues, changed the playwright’s art forever and would prove the most important of his life.
This lecture is sponsored by the English Department Shakespeare Endowment.
