Woodworking Network notes that a product produced by Ohio University alum Josh Morgan’s company has been nominated for a Challengers Award, with the winners to be announced in August.
Morgan is co-founder and partner of Earth Anatomy, a global supplier of sustainable building products.
Morgan, who earned B.A. in Economics from Ohio University, met Earth Anatomy co-founder RJ Thacker while serving with the Marine Corps in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He holds a Purple Heart from wounds sustained from a roadside bomb. His professional accomplishments include working in sales for a Fortune 500 medical device firm and Co-Founding Intense Debate, Inc (Acquired by Automattic Inc./Wordpress), according to the Earth Anatomy website.
“Cleveland-based Earth Anatomy Fabrication, managed by Chad Willams—also a military veteran—takes thin stone sheets mounted on a support substrate, and glues them to panel and millwork for architects, builders, product designers, OEM manufacturers, exhibit display makers, and other industries. Eventually the product could be made available for small-volume residential orders,” writes Woodworking Network. “The natural thin stone veneer was nominated for a Challengers Award, and made the cut from 63 entrants to 33 semi-finalists, and now is one of 20 finalists for the prestigious woodworking prize. The seven winners will be announced August 20 at the 2014 International Woodworking Fair.”
