Lorain Early College High School Grad To Study Pre-Physical Therapy at Ohio

The Morning Journal quotes a Lorain County Community College graduate—who earned his high school diploma and an associate’s degree at the same time—about his plans to study Pre-Physical Therapy at Ohio University.

A news release stated LCCC offers Early College High School as an opportunity for students who are entering ninth grade to participate in a combined high school and college experience with the goal of earning a high school diploma and an associate degree all at the same time. The students must be first-generation college students.

“LCCC did not just meet my goals, it surpassed them,” said ECHS graduate Michael Velez, of Lorain. “My brother went through the ECHS program, and I saw the benefits it gave him, and I wanted the same for myself.”

The news release stated he plans to continue his education at Ohio University to study pre-physical therapy.

“Lorain County Community College provides relevant education and training that prepares our graduates to transfer on to schools through the University Partnership, or help establish them in good paying careers,” Church said.
