Café Conversations presents Dr. Roger Cooper, Media Arts and Studies, on Wednesday, March 26, at 5 p.m. in the Baker Center Front Room.
Ringing phones, clicking keyboards and a boss dictating “to-do” lists—the typical sounds of a work environment. Chuckles, jokes and a hissing laughter—what Cooper believes a work environment should sound like, at least much more of the time.
The Associate Professor of Media Arts and Studies insists that humor in organizations is one of the key ingredients for success. “Leaders who have a sense of humor are more effective,” says Cooper. “It encourages creativity as well as increases listening and motivation.” He plans to get the audience involved through improv exercises and other demonstrations during his café. “If nothing else, I hope the audience leaves with a smile on their face and a better appreciation for humor and laughter,” says Cooper.
