Ohio University alum Alison Bridge ’02, who majored in Sociology-Criminology in the College of Arts & Sciences, was featured in an Oxford (OH) Press article about her work at the Talawanda School District.
Alison Bridge is a Talawanda graduate who has returned to the school district to “remove the non-cognitive barriers to learning.” She smiles when she says that, but explained that her job is to help families deal with the outside factors limiting a child’s ability to learn.
A child who has no bed to sleep on, food to eat or proper medical care cannot concentrate on learning and then quickly falls behind.
Put in simpler terms, Bridge’s job is to help families get what they need to insure their children have better opportunities to learn in school.
