College of Arts & Sciences faculty are invited to Mentoring Minutes on Friday, Oct. 11, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Friends of the Libraries Room, third floor of Alden Library.
During this “speed mentoring” event, pairs of new and experienced faculty will meet together in short intervals, switching conversation pairs every few minutes. Mentors can answer questions asked by new faculty and offer advice on subjects ranging from teaching and learning strategies, research and scholarly activities, faculty responsibilities, university resources, and other topics.
“Mentoring Minutes is intended to be fun and informative, and it will help to extend the mentoring network of new and recently hired Arts & Sciences faculty at Ohio University. This event also is intended to recognize the contributions of experienced faculty in the college who provide help and advice to new faculty colleagues. All faculty—from all faculty groups—are encouraged to attend,” says Dr. Laurie Hatch, Associate Dean for Students, Instruction and Curriculum and Professor of Sociology.
“New and recently hired” faculty mentees includes colleagues with fewer than six years at the university; more senior and experienced faculty mentors include colleagues with six or more years at the university.
