The Psychology Department colloquium series presents Ohio University alumna Dr. Katie Edwards, Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of New Hampshire, on Friday, Oct. 11, at 11:50 a.m. in Porter 102. Her talk is on “Intimate partner violence among adolescents and young adults: An illustration in the development and evolution of a program of research.”
The purpose of this talk is to discuss a program of research focused on intimate partner violence (IPV) among adolescents and young adults that Edwards developed as a graduate student (2005-11) at Ohio University under the mentorship of Dr. Christine Gidycz.
Examples of past and current research focusing on disclosure, leaving, and recovery processes among victims of IPV as well as risk and protective factors for IPV perpetration will be discussed.
Specific attention is given to the development of Edwards’ program of research as a graduate student, including intellectual and financial resources that supported the development of her programmatic research. Additionally, discussion and examples of how Edwards’ program of research has continued and evolved in her role as a tenure track faculty member at the University of New Hampshire will be included.
