Writers Harvest to Benefit Ohio Food Bank, Sept. 24

Writers HarvestThe Creative Writing program presents Writers Harvest—a benefit for hunger relief—on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Walter Hall Rotunda.

Proceeds from the $5 (suggested) admission benefit Southeastern Ohio Food Bank. A book signing and reception immediately follow the talks.

This year, Writers Harvest, the nation’s largest reading series working to help fight hunger, will feature Joan Connor, Ohio University fiction professor and award-winning author; Kristin LeMay, essayist, author, Emily Dickinson aficianado, raconteur; and Jill Rosser, associate professor or poetry and editor of New Ohio Review.

“Last year’s Writers Harvest raised $1,000 for the local food bank, and our goal this year is $1,200,” says David Wanczyk. All proceeds from the $5 admission donation will go to the Southeastern Ohio Food Bank’s Second Harvest, a food distribution program serving Athens, Hocking, Perry, Vinton, Jackson, Gallia, Meigs, Morgan and Washington counties.

Donations will be accepted outside Baker Center on Monday and Tuesday, and at the door on Tuesday evening. There will also be a raffle at the event where attendees can win signed books, gift certificates to local restaurants, and tickets to theater shows.

Writers Harvest is presented with support from the Ohio University College of Arts & Sciences, the College of Fine Arts, and Arts for Ohio. For information about the event, contact the Special Programs Office, Bentley Annex 303, 740 707-3191.
