Ohio University redshirt sophomore Devin Bass was selected as the Mid-American Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week on Monday following his performance—including a key fourth-quarter interception—Sept. 14 in the Bobcats’ 34-31 win over Marshall.
Bass is studying Sociology in the College of Arts & Sciences.
Bass, of Omaha, Neb., was a one-man wrecking crew in the Bobcats’ secondary as he tallied a game and career-high 11 tackles. He also registered 0.5 tackles for loss and recorded his first interception on the year. His interception came in the fourth quarter and helped secure Ohio’s third-consecutive win over rival Marshall. In addition, Bass had a career-high four pass breakups and missed just two defensive snaps all game.
