The Appalachian Regional Cell Conference, an annual event designed to facilitate professional networking and resource sharing among students and postdoctoral fellows in the field of cell biology, is open for registration through Friday, Sept. 13.
The free event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the West Virginia University Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center in Charleston, West Virginia. Ohio University will provide transportation to and from the meeting, which includes a complimentary breakfast and lunch.
The conference will highlight the Appalachian region as a rapidly emerging center of student-driven research. Participants will have the opportunity to present posters, listen to student talks and a keynote presentation by Ohio University Distinguished Professor John Kopchick, and discuss the direction and expansion of the conference in the future.
Undergraduate students, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows are welcome to register. The event is organized by students at Ohio University, West Virginia University, Marshall University and the University of Kentucky.
To promote dissemination of research and collaboration between nearby institutions, the conference is free. The event is sponsored by the American Society for Cell Biology, as well as Ohio University’s Vice President for Research and Creative Activity, Edison Biotechnology Institute, Molecular and Cellular Biology Program and the Department of Biomedical Sciences in the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine.
