The departments of African American Studies, History and Political Science and the Women’s Center welcome Dr. George Wright to Ohio University on Monday, Sept. 9, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Walter Rotunda.
Wright, a noted African American scholar who has written extensively on topics such as racial violence in Kentucky, is the President of Prairie View A&M University, the second oldest public institution of higher education in Texas and a historically black college and university. He will address “From Housing Project to the Presidency of PVAMU: The Personal Odyssey of George C. Wright.”
The 129-year old HBCU has an established reputation for producing thousands of African American engineers, nurses and educators and is a member of the Texas A& M University System, dedicated to fulfilling its land-grant mission of achieving excellence in teaching, research and service, according to the Prairie View A&M website.
