Athens Messenger reporter Kelly Doran interviewed Dr. John Gilliom, Professor of Political Science and Associate Dean in the College of Arts & Sciences at Ohio University about his new book, SuperVision: An Introduction to the Surveillance Society.
Surveillance has become unavoidable in today’s society, a new book co-written by an Ohio University professor explains. Not even avoiding Facebook and credit cards will let anyone slide under the radar anymore.
John Gilliom, professor of Political Science and associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences at Ohio University; and Torin Monahan, associate professor of Human and Organizational Development at Vanderbilt University, explain this and more in their book “SuperVision: An Introduction to the Surveillance Society” in January of this year.
This book, Gilliom said, is written more for the general reader and is meant as an interesting overview. It allowed Gilliom to explain his fascination with surveillance to his family, friends and students.
