The Athens News reported June 3 that Robert Colyer Wickham, an alum of Ohio University’s College of Arts &Sciences, passed away May 30, at the age of 100.
After graduating high school in Salt Lake City, Utah, he came to Athens to attend Ohio University where he graduated in 1937 earning a bachelors degree in chemistry, with minors in industrial arts and physics and a teaching certificate.
While attending O.U. he met and married Carolyn Fuller, the daughter of Dana Brooks Fuller and Carl Fuller of Athens. Robert and Carolyn were married for 56 years prior to her passing in 1993.
After teaching high school chemistry, physics and science in northern Ohio for several years, he came back to Ohio University in 1947 to get his master’s degree in Industrial Arts. He then taught Engineering Graphics in the Engineering department from which he retired as an Emeritus Professor in 1974 after 27 years of teaching at O.U.
